If you are using version 2.9.0 or later, you can use Menu > Overlays, Menu > Load Saved Data to browse for and open the file. Next, check app version in Menu > Settings > Help/About. The app doing the saving or downloading with normally place it in the "Download" folder. If, when you try to open a GPX file, it opens with the wrong app, or it gives you a choice of apps but not including Memory-Map, it is best to simply "save" the file.

The reason is that Android primarily uses the MIME-type instead of the file extension. It also depends on the configuration of the device sending the data, or the web site that you download it from. However, Android's file association has always been unreliable, and it doesn't always work the way you expect! It is very dependent on the device manufacturer, the app used to open the file, and the setup of every other app installed on the device. The app is designed to permit the operating system to open GPX files with Memory-Map. I no longer have to use a terrible handheld GPS.GPX files are used to store information about overlays, such as marks, routes and track logs. It would be even better if Trekarta could import them directly.įinally, thank you very much for this application, and for releasing it as FOSS. It would be nice if the application mentioned that you need to share GPX files from a file manger to get them into Trekarta. It looks like it copies the file somewhere first then offers to open Trekarta.

The "File Manager" application on f-droid works just fine. If the file is on the internal storage I get a different error. The "FX" manager also says no application can open files of type application/gpx+xm if the file is on the external SD card.

This happens if the *.gpx file is on the internal storage or an external SD card. The Samsung "My Files" app says there is no application that can open a GPX file and offers to open the Play store to find one.

This issue makes it much harder to figure out. I just bought Trekarta and it took me quite a bit of digging around to figure out how to import data.
